Governor Approves 33 Million Loan To Wastewater Project

BENTONVILLE -- The state will loan $33 million for construction of a regional wastewater treatment facility in Northwest Arkansas, Gov. Mike Beebe announced Wednesday.The package, which also calls for the state to bear finance and interest costs for 3.5 years at a cost of about $4.3 million, will allow construction to begin immediately with a planned completion date of late 2009 or early 2010, project organizers said."The only thing I worry about in Northwest Arkansas is that the lack of infrastructure could stifle growth and even cause it to implode," Beebe said during a news conference at the Bentonville library. "Now the first thing that comes to mind when you say infrastructure is highways, but this type of project is at least as vital."The regional center can treat 3.3 million gallons of wastewater a day and could be expanded later to up to 80 million gallons a day, enough to treat wastewater for a population of 800,000 people or more, project managers said.Bentonville Mayor Bob McCaslin called Beebe's a "legacy-making decision."More than 100 people attended Wednesday's announcement, including U.S.

Seaspan Prices 4.5-Million-Share Offer

Containership operator Seaspan Corp. said Tuesday it priced 4.5 million common shares of stock at $33.05 each for a public offering.

After underwriting discounts and offering expenses, Seaspan expects proceed of about $143 million. Seaspan plans to use the cash for general corporate purposes, including repaying debt, capital expenditures, working capital and to acquire new ships.

Underwriters have an option to purchase up to 675,000 additional shares to cover over-allotments.

Shares of Seaspan fell 78 cents to $32.62 in premarket trading. The purchase price is slightly below the stock's Monday closing price of $33.40.
